Volkswagen Group Singapore begins accepting BTC, ETH, USDT and USDC for vehicles and aftersales
The authorised distributor for Volkswagen, Škoda and Cupra in Singapore said customers can use digital assets to settle eligible transactions, adding crypto alongside existing payment channels.
The arrangement applies to partial payments for new car purchases and to aftersales invoices, broadening options for deposit taking and service work while retaining existing fiat processes.
Transactions are routed through FOMO Pay’s enterprise gateway, which provides real time exchange rates at the point of payment.
According to the company, the setup is designed to ensure compliance and transparency across acceptance and settlement, with merchants able to reconcile flows in step with existing finance operations.
Transaction caps set at SGD 4,500 daily and SGD 13,500 cumulative per customer
Volkswagen Group Singapore stated that each customer’s digital payment token activity is subject to a daily cap of SGD 4,500 and a cumulative ceiling of SGD 13,500 based on smurfing limits. The thresholds apply across vehicle and aftersales payments and are intended to manage risk and align with internal controls.
FOMO Pay, a Major Payment Institution licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, supplies the infrastructure for digital currency acceptance and settlement.
MAS records list FOMO Pay as an MPI under the Payment Services Act with permissions including Digital Payment Token services. The provider notes its license number PS20200145 and says it supports cross border and domestic money transfer, merchant acquisition and DPT activities.
Volkswagen Group Singapore framed the move as a response to rising local usage of digital assets and as part of a broader objective to expand payment choice for customers.
The company said the arrangement complements its existing showrooms and service centres and retains standard customer service processes while adding a digital currency option at checkout.
The initiative arrives amid ongoing efforts by regulated payment providers in Singapore to connect fiat and digital asset rails under MAS oversight.
With the FOMO Pay integration, Volkswagen Group Singapore adds crypto acceptance at the point of sale, while processing and exchange rate handling occur through the payment institution’s gateway.
