David Bailey, the entrepreneur often credited with steering Donald Trump toward digital assets, is now reaping substantial benefits from the very strategy he championed. His hedge fund 210k Capital has recorded a net return of 640 percent in the twelve months to June, according to figures shared with investors. The surge reflects a disciplined focus on companies that have added Bitcoin to their corporate treasuries. The results highlight how regulatory momentum in Washington can intersect with balance sheet management in boardrooms.
Corporate treasuries embrace Bitcoin
The core of Bailey’s strategy is deceptively simple. Rather than trade Bitcoin directly, 210k Capital takes substantial equity positions in listed firms that convert cash reserves into Bitcoin. Bailey argues that a treasury allocation of between five and fifteen percent can hedge currency dilution while enhancing return on assets. Market data show that twenty seven North American companies have adopted the approach since Trump signaled a friendlier regulatory posture in January. Their share prices have on average doubled this year, even after the recent consolidation in the broader crypto market.

Bailey tells investors that the trade offers two levers of growth. First, the underlying business benefits if Bitcoin rises. Second, each additional treasury purchase acts as a catalyst for repricing because equity analysts must revalue the cash position. His letters note that companies announcing initial Bitcoin allocations typically see a three percent market capitalisation gain on the day of disclosure. 210k Capital therefore builds positions ahead of expected board votes, relying on a network of corporate advisers and on chain analytics to anticipate flows.
Political support underpins confidence
Bailey’s proximity to the Oval Office is not incidental. Last autumn he briefed Trump and senior economic staff on how clear rules for custodians and audited proof of reserves could attract corporate treasurers. The President echoed that message in February, promising “freedom to innovate” at a rally in Ohio. Since then the Treasury and the Securities and Exchange Commission have issued draft rules that harmonise digital asset accounting with existing standards. The policy path has given Bailey the conviction to hold positions longer than most macro funds.
Nobody wants the 50th Treasury company.
I think we're already close to the 'show me' phase, where it will be increasingly difficult for random company x to sustain a premium and get off the ground without a serious niche.

Critics caution that concentration in a single asset class increases risk, especially if Bitcoin experiences a sharp drawdown. Bailey counters that the fund maintains liquid hedges through listed options and does not employ leverage. For now the numbers speak loudly. With assets under management approaching two point four billion dollars, 210k Capital ranks among the fastest growing hedge funds of the post pandemic era. Whether the performance can be repeated will depend on both price stability and continued political tailwinds.
